Here we go then..back into it following the stupid and dull international break.
Worst Team – Hard one this week, but Mikael will be pleased his Arsenal team are not in this weeks’ award ceremony! Anyway, I am going for Spurs, purely due to the fact they fell to bits like a cream cracker! Newcastle were under consideration, but they had a tough game, particularly with the CR7 impact.
Best team – Liverpool went to Elland Road and were at it from the first second and played a hardworking Leeds Team off the park.
Villain of the Week – The ‘model pro’ Harry Kane. Where was he?
Hero of the Week – Edouard Mendy for his saves that kept Chelsea in the game, particularly the save from Ollie Watkins. Well done lad!
So, after a number of clubs banned their players travelling in the last international break, then consequently the farcical situation that happened in the Brazil and Argentina – lets take a look Matchday Four.
The lunchtime game saw Crystal Palace punish Spurs completely after they capitulated – it was almost like and England middle order batting collapse. As I said above, where was the big man, the model pro, he has downed tools clearly and he is behaving like a petulant kid.
Palace battled so well, and they deserved the three points and it the signing of Edouard from Celtic, looks to be good business in my observant opinion.
Finally, Arsenal are off and running with a 1-0 win over fellow strugglers Norwich, although nice guy Farke may feel aggrieved at Arsenal’s goal not being rued out for offside, but on balance Arsenal deserved the win.
Norwich are so light up front and to stay in the league, they need to find the onion bag and quickly.
So, finally Brentford’s unbeaten run is ended, with a last gasp Brighton goal and prior to that, they offered nothing. On the flip side, Brentford were shocking in front of the posts and so, so wasteful it was incredible, so Thomas Frank will be annoyed, because they should have been out of sight.
Brighton briefly went in to third in the league, so Graham Potter will be pleased and to be fair they have started well, compared to previous years of course.
It’s a lesson for Brentford and it’s a harsh reality of the Premier League.
I get the feeling that Brendan Rodgers is feeling the heat a bit, because they are not performing to standards that we have come expect. The game itself was pulsating and both keepers needed to make saves and good saves at that, which we don’t associate Ederson with! Great three points for City and they are hitting some form now, but I still don’t see Pep knowing what his best team is. What he has realised is that the greedy one isn’t good enough!!
It was in the stars, wasn’t it? Cristiano is back in the league and on his first start he notched twice and two good goals as well to be fair. Someone said to me that he would make no difference to Man Utd – I disagreed and for me, him being back is game changer and will make them stronger.
Is Ole good enough? I don’t think so.
What we do know, is that Steve Bruce has his work cut out, but they played reasonably well for periods in this game, so there are some signs they will be fine.
Southampton and West Ham played out bore draw with Antonio being sent off for two bookables. West Ham had the majority of possession, but they never troubled Alex McCarthy in the game.
After sixty-nine shots, Wolves finally scored and beat Watford 2-0. I think they are just struggling up front and Raul Jimenez just hasn’t found any form since his horrific head injury.
Watford though haven’t scored since the opening game of the season, so that will be a worry for them surely.
Are Chelsea the best team in the league? Everyone suggests so! They have coverage in most areas and tactically Tuchal is pretty good, so it seems at least. He will, however, have to thank his keeper for making two or three good stops, but I don’t think it would have changed the outcome of the result.
People are raving about Lukaku – really? When does he ever turn up in a big game? He didn’t turn up against Liverpool, did he? It was a lot of money for a big player, literally too, that doesn’t turn up in big games!
Aston Villa are a good side, they really are, and they will have a good season, that I am certain of. They had chances in this game, but Mendy made a couple of worldies.
Liverpool were absolutely immense at Elland Road against Leeds, which is a notoriously difficult game. They were at it from the very first second and they made changes in midfield with Thiago coming in and showing his class.
Leeds run, harass, run, and harass – they are a good side, but they just haven’t got going this season – YET! It would great if they got a cup run going, wouldn’t it?
What an absolute screamer from Andros Townsend – pick that out! Rafa will be bragging about his business, if he bragged, but we know he doesn’t, because Townsend and Gray look a snip.
However, someone tell me what Richarlison offers any football team? Other than moaning and whining every time someone goes near him.
Burnley just folded, after going ahead and Sean Dyche labelled it as a mad six minutes – I would go one further and say a stupidly mad six minutes!
They need results and they need goals, but they always do so well on a 2 quid budget.
So, an interesting week, with the model pro not showing up and acting like a spoilt brat that couldn’t have toast after school! Then we have the greedy one – has he been found out?
I hope so!
